5.751 Definitions for Sections 5.750 to 5.766.
(1) "Fire capable of spreading":
(a) Includes:
(i) Fires using solid fuels such as paper or wood which are capable of creating embers; or
(ii) Any fire that does not require a permit that is within three feet of any flammable or combustible materials; and
(b) Does not include:
(i) Use of appliances for cooking such as BBQs and smokers when used according to the manufacturer’s instructions; and
(ii) Fires for pleasure or ceremony using liquified fuels such as propane and butane in an appliance intended for fire and used according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
(2) "High-risk public areas" are areas with frequent fires, increased risk of fire spread and growth, or increased vulnerability of loss of life or property, and are so designated in the City of Medford as:
(a) "The Greenways" as defined in Section 5.257(1)(d); and
(b) Prescott Park.
(3) "Ignition source" is an object or device capable of producing enough heat to ignite flammable or combustible substances or materials. Examples include, but are not limited to, fireworks, lighters, matches, smoking materials (including cigarettes and pipes while in use), welding devices, or machinery that could emit sparks.
