When notice of appeal is required to be filed in any of the matters governed by the codes mentioned in Section 2.479, it shall be filed with the recorder and maintained thereafter as a public record. A copy shall be furnished by the recorder to the director of building safety, who shall give notice and take such action as may be needed to cause the board to hear and consider the matter within the time prescribed by law.
